from United States on 03/28/2019 - floss nightmare
Sorting the floss was a nightmare. Too many similar colors with the same number of strands so was unable to identify between cream, ecru, light tan, tan, and taupe. Had to go to a store to compare the colors for identification. Tried to identify two other colors with 6 strands each. Thought I could use the pattern to help but couldn't find one of the symbols in the pattern.

I was very frustrated sorting the threads for this project an said so in my review. I immediately heard from Joanne and she gave me the conversion chart for DMC threads. That certainly simplified matters! Because of all the half stitches I decided to do this project on 25 count Lugana, even thought it will be larger. It is turning out beautifully! Thank you!
from United States on 04/20/2017 - thread issue
I absolutely love this cross stitch! I was excited to do it but was so disappointed when it arrived. I spent an entire evening trying to sort out the colors correctly. There were so many colors just a bit different I couldn't do it. I started sewing and discovered some of the colors were completely wrong! I gave up. If all of the floss had been DMC I would have had no difficulty as I have thousands of scans of DMC. I don't want to give up completely and hope to try doing this pattern with DMC, if I can figure out the corresponding skeins.
from United States on 02/05/2017 - Causes a big headache....
I agree totally with all the negative comments I just read.....floss was next to impossible to sort, I emailed the company and received the conversion chart and spent an hour at Michael's, trying to sort the thread correctly, I hope I did ok, and still had to buy some floss that I could not find.....the chart is confusing, to say the least. I am making this for my daughter-in-law's 'rainbow baby,' oh, how I hope it turns out well! So much meaning in this kit for her....wish me good luck!
from United States on 07/04/2016 - Profile of the baby not pleasing
I fumbled my way through the maze of thread colors for a couple hours, anticipating to begin the project. However, I ended up discarding the entire kit. I feel the profile of the baby's head is so unattractive that I could not bring myself to spend many countless hours in finishing a gift for my next great-grandchild. As the elder member of my family, a cross stitch gift has become an anticipated tradition at each birth that I hope will be displayed for several years.
from United States on 05/22/2016 - Will NEVER buy another Bucilla kit
If we would have read the reviews, we would have never have bought this kit. The kit was difficult from the beginning because Bucilla just threw the instructions, floss, and needle into a ziplock bag. The flosses were not sorted or tagged according to color or number. The kit includes 5 different red-browns, multiple taupes, tans, browns, and corals with subtle differences in the colors making it nearly impossible to determine what color are what. Bucilla did not help, there was no color chart and the color picture is too small to be helpful. The kit instructions are printed on a 22" parent sheet in black and white. These instructions include difficult 1/4 stitches and 3/4 stitches printed in the same size and the same symbol as the full stitch. They did not even use a separate symbol for the different type of stitches. From the advert in the web page the project appears to be a fun easy project. The kit we received makes it a very difficult project. DO NOT purchase this project without fair warning. The company claims to have been in business since 1869 well, maybe they need to update their projects to the 21st century rather than the 19th century. Buy at your own risk.
from United States on 01/19/2016 - big problem with thead.
The project is adorable but the thread is a big confusing mess. I spent over two hours trying to sort the colors, There are MANY colors very similar in shade and almost impossible to tell what is intended as the correct one. I don't think I ever got it right and I don.t intend to order from you again, Other companies have a system where the colors are separated and identified before shipping. You should do that.
from United States on 09/29/2015 - Thread Colors a Mystery
You receive to packages of thread and a sheet that lists the colors. There is no indication on the thread as to what color it matches on the chart. When you have 4-5 shades of what you think are peach, tans, beige, ecru and brown and you are suppose to differentiate it is a nightmare. Then they throw in a coral and you have no thread to match. It took me 2 hours to separate the thread, and I am still guessing at the colors. I would never purchase a Bucilla kit again. I had to try to enlarge the picture below in order to try to determine the colors used. Not sure how this will turn out for my first grandchild.
from United States on 09/08/2015 - Not pleased
The color separation is horrible. I found a conversion chart but had 3 different colors under the same number! Not happy at all with this product. Needs to be labeled on the strings or a better way to define the colors.
from United States on 01/21/2015 - Thread colors
The other reviewers were correct- it is VERY difficult to separate the thread colors. Annoying. However, I called and got assistance from a woman can't remember her name-sorry, who directed me to a DMC/Bucilla conversion chart that was helpful. Would hesitate to buy another kit if the threads were not labelled.
from United States on 01/01/2014 - disappointed
It was impossible to separate the colors.......so threw it away. At the very least, the numbers of the color should be attached to the yards. After 8 hours of frustration, just disposed it. Such a disappointment. Wanted to make it for first great grandchild.
from United States on 12/17/2013 - Our Little Blessing
Just started the work, seems like it will be a lot of fun and i should have it done in time. Only problem I have had is the floss separation into individual colors. I have some issues with my eyes and it is hard separating colors. Pre labeled would make it easier and faster.
from United States on 12/03/2013 - Very cute
I did not look at the size , to me it's a little too large but I love it Thanks
from United States on 09/14/2013 - Great project!
Would recommend that the manufacturer add a little more thread. I had to buy extra stands of some colors but still happy with the companies shipping time service and cost!
