I have already made a start on this. I hand-dyed a yard of fabric (blues and purples), and it is going to be so pretty. However, upon closer look at the sampler, I am not planning to stitch the people in the whale's belly. Mmm... no. I think it is probably meant to be fun, but it just makes me sad. I love animals and this sampler is chock-full of them. She really is a fantastic designer. I like the sayin as well. I am also working on The Pilgrim. I can't seem to resist huge projects. Stitching is my happy place and it does wonders for keeping you hands busy and your mind focused on positive things.

I have been working on this for only a week or so, but there is little else I want to do! I am so enthralled with the complexity of design, and anxiously await each area as it appears on the linen. I am also looking at many of the other Long Dog designs and trying to choose what to do next. Don't think I will easily go back to simpler cross stitch for quite a while.

5 stars out of 5 from United States Tiny United States flag on 01/30/2019 - life AFTER death
I love Life After death. The beauty I sigh for and the story it tells about life...the birds, the mighty bull, the family in the corner, etc. All indications of providence of virtue and health. I chose black 310 and a gray 413 for the back stitched areas. I did red for the back stitch, then decided on grayIm just wishing that I had done Death before this wonderful pattern. Alas, it will come after as defined in the title of this pattern. Maybe the designer, Jools Line I think, wished the same when he named this pattern. Ive been obsessed with samplers for over 30 years!!

5 stars out of 5 from United States Tiny United States flag on 09/03/2017 - Fascinating, mysterious, awesome
I wish the designer shared some of the meanings of the symbols to her. Some are explanatory - others mysterious. I figure the date is supposed to be the date the stitcher finishes the sampler. It would be fun to have a group work to figure out what the symbols mean. Looks like symbols from different cultures???

Beyond a great pattern. So many stories woven into a tapestry of Life after Death. There is a date hidden within. We are all curious as to what that means. There are so many different patterns within, one could stitch parts of it and still be happy! Beware. When changing threads and/or fabric size, please dust off your math and calculate. Then check your work.
