Cross Stitch PatternsThe Romans introduced the brown hare to these sceptered isles more than 2000 years ago, and this magical creature has been with us ever since. Spiritually the hare is symbolic of abundance, fertility and rebirth. It represents agility, speed, inner wisdom and, in some cultures, trickery, madness, even death. The Celts linked it to the otherworld, which could be reached through mists, lakes, hills and cairns. And the Cornish believed these furry moongazers would warn them of tempests and storms. All in all, Lepus Europaeus is a very special creature, more harbinger or herald than a mere bunny with superlong ears.
Long Dog's Twee Hazen, that's Dutch for "two hares", are both chilling out so boxing is currently off the menu. It's their daydream hour and if you listen very carefully you may be able to hear them chanting their ancient mantra, "Clover, clover, clover ."
Stitch count is 119 x 223.
