While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from United States on 05/31/2018 - Quick easy and cute This blue baby sneaker is easy and fun. I have done a number of kits from mill hill and they are always fun to do. I also like the portability, such as when waiting in the doctors office. This particular kit was quick quick because the beadwork was only in two colors. I separated the various blue colors before starting and started with the medium blue to differentiate between all the shades. I know my grandson will love it for his first Christmas ornament. Also I stitch the edges and back it in felt.
