While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:

1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.

2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.

3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.

All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

I love doing these Mill Hill kits that have corresponding frames (not included). Quick to do, and the combination of cross-stitch and beading always impresses. I have 6 now, for every two months of the year. I live where there are chickadees throughout the winter.

Where did that saying ever come from? Anyway, I love chickadees and this kit was just perfect. Mill Hill kits always have plenty of the required materials. They stitch up quickly and easily and add a little bling to the decor.

This is a lovely cross stitch pattern, however, remember that when you order anything w/beads, your eyesight has to be good enough to thread a beading needle. I gave mine to a younger friend.
