While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from United States on 11/25/2015 - Liked and would buy again, but ran out of several threads First, I liked this kit/picture. I actually finished it, that is saying something! All the materials are good quality, except I ran out of 2 colors of thread, yellow, and pink. I had some in my stash but it's the point, that DMC thread is inexpensive, the kit is fairly pricey for a small picture, and there is no excuse for shorting a kit!! There are extra beads however, 10 times as many beads as needed. Better to put less beads and more thread! So I loved working it, and loved the finished product, but really irritated that there was too little thread. I gave 4 stars, and maybe should have given 3, but I would buy it again, so don't want to discourage others, but be prepared to maybe need more thread of some colors.
