While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:

1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.

2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.

3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.

All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

Made an ornament rather than a magnet. It is well worth the effort. Gave as a gift and they really liked it. Will make one for myself. Mill hill kits are excellent. Have made about 60 of them from different series.

I loved working on this little ornament. I like to do the beading, which is good because at least half of this was beading. Even if you don't like to bead, this ornament is worth it. Very cute - the pictures don't do it justice.
