While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from United States on 09/07/2017 - i like it, however...... I had a very hard time with the beige and cream color floss. This is the first time I had a problem with the those colors. I am going to buy my floss at Joann's to have a check point with the floss in the kit. I do love the beaded corn, that was fun to do. I will continue to buy Mill Hill kits.

I can say that the rich autumn colors of the threads and beads are outstanding, and I am looking forward to making it soon. I love working on the perforated paper for a change of pace, after recently stitching several pieces on 32 count linen. I find it very relaxing. Mill Hill kits have never disappointed me. Joyce Miner
