While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from United States on 10/17/2019 - Just Too Cute Love these darling beaded cross stitch kits as they make such attractive "sit outs" on a small easel during the holiday season. I have the Manor House and Taboo Kitty finished for Halloween, the Harvest Garden and Fall Tree completed for Thanksgiving, and lastly the Jingle Bell Trio and Season of Giving almost completed for Christmas. Tucked in with my holiday decorations these make such conversation pieces. I place them on 2 back to back pieces of fabric covered mat board and then glue the x-stitch picture to the front. Surround edges with a small piece of purchased cording and they are . . . Just Too Cute!!!
