While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

The colors are vibrant and I look forward to working on it each time I pick it up and I have many projects going at the same time and am definitely enjoying this a lot.

This is one of the prettiest beaded cross stitch patterns I have done and can’t wait to see the finished product. This series from Mill Hill is so pretty and perfect for my house decor.
from United States on 05/28/2019 - beautiful flower Something has happened to Mill Hill kits, and not in a good way. They have suddenly gotten stingy with the contents, both thread and beads. The thread seems to be thinner too. The instructions call for two strands, but because they are so thin the background shows thru. I am working it as instructed but am not as happy as I once was with their kits. Charge a bit more and go back to the way they used to be please. I do this for enjoyment and sweating to determin if I have enough to finish my kit takes all the fun away. I would go and buy additional threads if I knew who they used.
