While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from United States on 04/11/2025 - Very Pretty Cross stitch Mt McKinley Santa is very beautiful when it’s all completed- the photo does no justice to the finished product. Beads make it really pop. Like the other reviewer stated the chart symbols are very small and look similar. So it’s best to enlarge the chart. You won’t be disappointed with this one.
from United States on 08/10/2023 - Directions hard to follow Pattern was smaller than others I have done from mill hill have done over 20 Santa’s. The chart had a circle with a dash in it and a circle with plus very hard to make it out as graph was smaller than normal . Also wish they would divide floss like they do the beads so it would be easier to determine shades
