While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from United States on 10/29/2018 - Mill hill kits for Halloween I have now done 8 Halloween mill hill kits for grandchildren and friends I have found high quality supplies and very good instructions with each kit. 123 Stitch delivers very quickly and packaged adequately to preserve the items. Love dealing with them! One day I might get there to shop personally!
from United States on 10/15/2014 - Cute and easy Halloween project. This is a charming little Halloween project that goes fast. The beads are the perfect addition to make it sparkle. I used a short big-eye needle for the beads because I had bought a pack earlier for a beading project. No problem with the bead holes or the paper holes. It worked great!
