While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from United States on 10/20/2015 - Pumpkin cat review I loved working up this cute little ornament. All of the materials were excellent quality as always. My only complaint is that the little black beads that outline the cat had a lot of variance in color due to the rainbow finish on them. I like the ones in the picture better because they look more black, so I went out and bought some other beads that look like the picture. I'm very happy with how it turned out.
