While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from United States on 11/02/2018 - Great Project to Impress I had recently completed the Autumn Oak project and when I saw the Winter Oak project I just knew I had to get this one. I am just about done the project, adding the beads now. It has taken me about a week and a half to get to this point. I work full-time, so I have been working on it after work each evening and whenever I can on the weekend. It goes together quickly, but makes a great impression on others who know nothing about needlework. I highly recommend!
