The Dwarven Axe is a pattern inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books. I designed it for two of my friends from the UK. The monochromatic design features only full crosses and can be stitched on any counted cross stitch fabric When Tolkien wrote the Hobbit, he initially used different runes (based on Anglo / Saxon runes). It's those runes I used for this design. For The Lord of the Rings Tolkien developed a unique set of runes, of which I have also included a chart. Stitch count is 151 x 195. Finished size on 28 ct is 10.79" x 13.93".
