I originally learned about trolley needles on YouTube & *had* to get one once I saw them! I think I have four or five now--three in project boxes & one or two back-ups. I've used them for around two years now & they have made *such* a difference in my stitching! I would recommend these to *any* stitcher who wants to improve the look of their cross stitch, embroidery, needlepoint, or really *any* needlework!

I haven't really had a chance to use it yet but I am excited about this thing called "Trolley Needle Thread Controller" I have been watching videos on how to use it properly. On my next project it will come in handy.

How have I not known about this before? I have done several large projects and taken such care in the stitching, spending many hours overall just trying to get the threads to lay parallel to each other. I was doing all the "right" techniques, letting the thread hang to get the twist out and even "railroading". Then I read about "laying tools" and instantly recognized this might be the solution to my problem. Oh. My. Goodness. This trolley needle is THE solution to the craftsperson's problem. Now my stitches ALL are predictably flat and the threads lay parallel and uniform in a tiny fraction of the time it used to take me to get far less predictable results.If the stitcher in your life doesn't yet have a trolley needle, buy it as a gift. They will thank you!! And if turns out they already had one, that's OK. Now they'll have one for their travel kit -

I use this as a laying tool when I cross stitch and do embroidery. The finger cap is adjustable for diameter and taper so you can fit it to your finger no matter the size. I ordered this as my second trolley needle so I can fit one to my index finger and one to my thumb -- no matter what I'm doing, I use either the index finger or thumb as my laying tool and this way I have a trolley needle already fitted to whichever finger I'm going to use. The first needle I have is over 30 years old and it is a bit heavier and the fingercap has more adjustment, but this trolley needle is quite adequate for the purpose.

This is my favorite laying tool when I am working on a scrolling frame. This is my second Trolley Needle Thread Controller. I'm starting a new sampler andI am going to attach this tool to the frame so it will be right there at hand whenever INeed it.
