While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

Awesome kit. Plenty of floss and beads to work with. I actually flip the instruction and make it again so I have a front and back. Then I sew them together. It turned out beautiful.

I already have this ornament made. Very pretty. The Mill Hill beads add so much. I am glad that there is still somewhere to buy these cross stitch kits. Would recommend.

This ornament is simply beautiful with the blue, white and silver colors. I think using only three colors makes it truly stunning. Fun to stitch and see the finished result.
