While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from United States on 08/26/2024 - Cute! I just started this kit and it’s coming along nicely. However, the kit included only one of the two bead packages that should have been included. I have stitched many of the Mill Hill kits (estimate at least 20) and it seems like every 4th one or so is missing something…too few beads, a thread color, etc. it’s frustrating. For this one, I’m hoping I have enough left over beads from other kits to complete the design.
from United States on 12/12/2023 - Challenging Kit arrived fast and everois included. The threads are hard to separate as colors are so close. Whay can’t these companies separate the threads for you so you’re not questioning yourself? This is not a beginner’s kit as it will leave you frustrated if you don’t know what you’re doing. It does turn out cute.
