I bought the gnome kits to make as gifts, and to learn about beading. I think they're terrific fun and look lovely. Some other reviews thought the fine color shades were unnecessarily difficult, but I love the fine shading. It gives the depth to these ornaments so that they are art, not toys. When I finished this gnome I bought three more!

Love this pattern! Awesome, but not easy to do

Although this little acorn guy is so cute when done, I think there is way too much detail for something so small. Five shades of green floss and 2 shades of beads in an area barely 1x1 inch. And all the outlining. Again lost on such a tiny area. I have done hundreds of Mill Hill kits over about 30 years. This one is cute but too much work. All that shading will not be visible on a tree.

The beads are cute but difficult. First I separated them by color and size, I had tiny ziplock bags to put them in. Secondly I have to do this on a table with a grided placemat to catch beads that get dropped. Thirdly the needle is very narrow and the eye is small to let the bead slide over, making it difficult to thread. Overall I love the look and I will hang them at Christmas but it is not easy to do.
