While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from United States on 05/10/2021 - Cardinal bird I made two sets of the cardinals. It was relatively easy to do. This item has 3 parts, the body, 2 wings, and the holly leaves. These can be either sewn or glued to the body of the cardinal. I chose to use craft glue which works well. The end product is super cute and does not even need the orange fuzzy friend behind the top of the bird. However it does add an extra pizzazz.
