While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

I've made this for my tree this year. Easy instructions and plenty of working material. If you cross stitch you can make this.
from United States on 08/14/2024 - Great for beading. I buy a lot of these Mill Hill bead kits and use all beads to finish them for Christmas tree ornament gifts. My family and friends love them. They do take a long time as my hands are significantly arthritic but I really enjoy making them. I also use other cross stitch patterns that I feel work and have been making them for many years.

from United States on 06/11/2021 - Beautiful and warm.... This kit is beautiful. The candle looks like it is burning sending out a warm glow with the pretty light yellow beads and thread used in the pattern. Fun to stitch and will be a pretty addition to the tree!
from United States on 11/19/2019 - Love it! The Christmas lantern was faster and easier than the other ornaments I have stitched it is mostly cross stitch and fewer beads. I was able to complete it easily in about 2 weeks. I loved the quick shipping also. Ordered another one since it worked up so quickly.
