While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from United States on 05/23/2016 - easier than it looks I've found a new love of cross stitch with these beaded kits. Now I'm going to start doing the beaded ones instead of regular ones. Looking at the directions it looked difficult, but the beading is so easy I would tell even a beginner that they can do this. This kit came out beautiful. Only changes I made was I didn't bead the 3 roof parts of the house, less can be more, and I added a few white beads in the snow of the tree. Use your imagination with the beading and make this what you want it to look like.
from United States on 12/11/2013 - Mill Hill kits are the greatest! I just love Mill Hill beads and kits - they always turn out even prettier than they appear in the photos. I just made this one for my cousin who owns a little country store - I modified the roof-top and sign so that it would read "Shorty's Country Store" instead of "General Store" and it turned out amazing! I simply can't wait till she opens her Christmas gift this year!
