While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from United States on 05/29/2019 - Gorgeous Angel This is one of the last of the Nativity pieces that I am doing and I was surprised that it was a bit more challenging because the colors are so very light and close to each other. There is a white, off white and a very pale blue that look similar when you are stitching. I blow up the pattern and then highlight all my pieces but with this one I was highlighting more frequently than the others. Don't be deterred from stitching the angel though - shes still glorious.

I have not started stitching this yet, but I'm sure it will be just fine and will look simply gorgeous on my tree!
