While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from United States on 04/29/2019 - SHORTAGE ON THIS MILL HILL KIT Thank you so much for your quick service on my order. However, this particular kit has a shortage on the embellishments. If you look at this pattern picture, there are 7 flame arms to the sun. The mill embellishment package only contained 6 rondele champagne topaz treasures. Therefore, I am short on completing my "Golden Sun!" Will Mill Hill provide me the extra embellishment or will I need to order it? Thank You for your attention to this matter.
