While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from United States on 10/23/2019 - Joy to the World Very pretty, nice colors, gold beads make it pop. Kit was complete & easy to follow instructions. As stated, the dark blue thread on dark paper is a bit of a challenge, but I'm use to the dark papers now. 123 Stitch is great.
from United States on 08/23/2019 - Beautiful Design!! I am working on this piece now. You need good light to stitch the shades of blue on the blue paper. It is well worth the effort, I think it is going to be prettier than the picture.
