While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from Canada on 12/04/2022 - Sorting threads I absolutely love Mill Hill projects, I have bought plenty! But....the sorting of threads is a frustrating exercise ESPECIALLY when there's a number of ie. Greens. I often have to dig out from my old stash to see which number is the actual colour to use, tho I don't have all of them to compare. Different kits have various ways to identify the colours, it would be appreciated if Mill Hill could do the same!
from United States on 08/08/2014 - Loved Working With This Kit This was the first time I worked with one of these kits, and it won't be the last. This was so nice to work with and I love putting the beads on. The finished product is really amazing, much prettier than in the picture. Haven't framed it yet but I'm sure it will be beautiful. I finished it rather fast.
