While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

I absolutely adore the Mill Hill kits because I can make any of them into refrigerator magnets. Everyone loves them because it's something you can look at every time you open or close the refrigerator door! They are beautiful, have some glitz, and are homemade. Perfect!
from United States on 12/11/2017 - Fun Project I love Mill Hill beaded cross stitch kits. Every year I make one each for my grandson and his cousin. This year they each got a sleigh. They're fun to make, look great on the Christmas tree, and the kids love getting their own ornament.
from United States on 09/06/2017 Wonderful, fun little cross stitch kit. I've done all the sleighs but the blue one doesn't look Christmasy. I didn't trim them to the edges of the stitches, left it rectangular and tied them to a 22" wreath with small, one-inch Christmas balls. Very enjoyable project.
