While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:

1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.

2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.

3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.

All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

GREAT KITS. Love working the Jim Shore ornaments. Have just about all of them. Gives you the two needles needed, clear floss symbols in pattern. Sometimes the floss bundle (if it a big bundle) is a little hard to sort - especially if there are a lot levels of colors to sort to by deion. (I have a DMC floss bklet to check my colors). 123 Stitch gets my orders out quickly and always arrives well packaged. They are a great source for counted cross stitch.

There were 3 colors of floss missing from the kit (and 5 missing from the other kit that i ordered). There needs to be a better quality check. I didn't want to start this without all of the necessary floss. If this is DMC floss, the numbers in the kit don't seem to match the DMC colors.
