I load a needle with each color. Best feature -- I found I can close the lid with the needles inside for travel.

It is also just the right size to store a band-aid underneath the foam sponge part in case of a paper cut or whatever.

It makes stitching fast to have the colors already threaded. I don't think it is good if you have a lot colors to thread because the floss might get tangled. It is nice for small projects.
