Mill Hill Christmas ornament designed by Jim Shore featuring two gnomes kissing under the mistletoe!
The kit includes beads, antique brown perforated paper, needles, floss, chart and instructions. Finished size: 3.93" x 4.5"
While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

I have been getting Jim Shore's Gnomes for the last couple of years and I love working on them. My sister gets 1 per year for her tree.

I enjoyed doing this project. The only thing I did not like was having to guess what the colors were since they have no numbers on them. Luckily I have most of the colors in my basket and so I was able to narrow it down to about 3 that I was not completely sure of, but logic won out via the description of the color. Seems like a simple task to put the treads with a number on them, so there is no confusion, but that is my option.
