Mill Hill Christmas ornament designed by Jim Shore featuring a gnome dressed as Santa holding a tree. The kit includes 14 Ct. Antique Brown perforated paper, beads, needles, floss, chart and instructions. Finished size: 2.5" x 5"
While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

Love Mill Hill kits and also like Jim Shore designs. Kits are great to have all included, i don't run out of items, unless I drop the beads on the floor.

I would love to get started on this kit but have one glitch. The colors of the floss are so similar. What is the difference in green gray and green beige. I clipped a 1/2 inch of each color to put on the color code chart for reference. Maybe it will help if I have really good lighting. And it appears that I also ended up with one extra color. It would really help if the colors were already identified. Thanks for asking for a review.
